The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
