Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 By this luminous Book. 2 Verily We! We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that haply ye may reflect. 3 And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 We have sent many a prophet to earlier peoples 6 And never came there a Prophet to them but they used to mock at him. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 He it is who has made the earth a cradle for you, and has provided for you ways [of livelihood] thereon, so that you might follow the right path. 10 And He Who sends down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We raise to life thereby a dead country, even thus shall you be brought forth; 11 And the One Who created all pairs, and made the ships and cattle as rides for you. 12 That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say. "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. 13 And indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return." 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15
