The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ THE MOST GRACIOUS 1 who taught the Quran -- 2 Created man, 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
