The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
