The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven with its impregnable castles; 1 and by the promised Day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 (Self-)destroyed were the owners of the ditch 4 [Containing] the fire full of fuel, 5 When they were sitting at its edge. 6 witnessing what they were doing. 7 and their revenge on them was only because they believed in Allah, the Almighty, the Praised, 8 Him, Whose is the dominion of heavens and the earth. And Allah is over everything a Witness. 9 Those who persecute the believing men and women without repenting will suffer the torment of hell and that of the burning fire. 10 Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success. 11 The grip of your Lord is severe indeed! 12 Lo! He it is Who produceth, then reproduceth, 13 He is the forgiving and the loving, 14 Honorable Owner of the Throne, 15 Performer of what He desires. 16 Hast thou received the story of the hosts, 17 of Pharaoh, and of [the tribe of] Thamud? 18 And yet, they who are bent on denying the truth persist in giving it the lie: 19 Whereas Allah is, from behind them, Encompassing. 20 Nay; but this is a glorious Qur'an, 21 in a guarded tablet. 22
