The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 it is not a jest. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
