The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 it is not a jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
