Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
