Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And cups put in place 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
