Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
