The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 and you are a lodger in this country. 2 And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], 3 We created the human in fatigue. 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 (He boasts and shows off) saying, "I have spent a great deal of money (for the cause of God)". 6 Deemest he that none beholdeth him? 7 Did We not make two eyes for him? 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 Have We not shown him the ways of good and evil? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 What will explain to you what the ascent is? 12 (It is) the freeing of a slave, 13 or giving food on a day of hunger 14 An orphan of near relationship 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left. 19 Over them will be fire closed in. 20
True are the words of God the Almighty.
