The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night enshrouding 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And accepts the best, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And rejects the best, 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
