The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
