The elders of Pharaoh's people said: 'Surely this man is a skilful magician 109 who desires to expel you from your land; what do you command?' 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (for a time), and send callers (men) to the cities to collect (and) - 111 And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed." 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and said: 'Shall we have a reward if we win?' 113 The Pharaoh replied, "In addition to your rewards, you will become my close friends thereafter." 114 They said, 'Moses, wilt thou cast, or shall we be the casters?' 115 He said, “You throw”; when they threw, they cast a magic spell upon the people’s eyes and terrified them, and they brought a great magic. 116 And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated. 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 They said: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Said Pharaoh: "Have you come to believe in him ere I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have cunningly devised in this [my] city in order to drive out its people hence! But in time you shall come to know, [my revenge]: 123 "Surely, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then I will crucify you all." 124 They said: Surely to our Lord shall we go back: 125 "And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." 126
