The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Praise be to Allah Who hath revealed the Scripture unto His slave, and hath not placed therein any crookedness, 1 [He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward 2 wherein they shall remain forever, 3 Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son": 4 They have no knowledge of this, as their fathers did not have. How terrible are the words they utter! They speak nothing but lies. 5 Then maybe you will kill yourself with grief, sorrowing after them, if they do not believe in this announcement. 6 Surely We have made whatever is on the earth an embellishment for it, so that We may try them (as to) which of them is best in works. 7 and We shall surely make all that is on it barren dust. 8 Or, do you think the companions of the Cave and the tomb stone were a wonder among Our signs? 9 When those youths sought refuge in the Cave and said: "Our Lord! Grant us mercy from Yourself and provide for us rectitude in our affairs." 10 Then We draw (a veil) over their ears, for a number of years, in the Cave, (so that they heard not): 11 Then roused them to ascertain which of the two groups could account for the period they had stayed. 12
