The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 and by the Book in lines 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 and the uplifted roof 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
