Thamud (people) belied the Messenger. 141 when their brother Salih said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 142 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 143 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 Do you think that you will be left secure [forever] -- 146 amidst gardens and fountains, 147 sown fields, and palms with slender spathes? 148 carving comfortable houses out of the mountains? 149 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 150 “And do not follow those who exceed the limits.” 151 Who work corruption in the land and rectify not. 152 They said: Thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 You are but a human like ourselves. Produce for us a sign, if you are of the truthful' 154 He said: This is a she-camel; she shall have her portion of water, and you have your portion of water on an appointed time; 155 Do not cause her to suffer lest you become subject to the torment of the great day (of Judgment)." 156 Yet they hamstrung her, and then they became regretful: 157 So the torment took hold of them: verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 158 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 159
