And certainly We delivered the children of Israel from the abasing chastisement, 30 from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin, 31 We gave preference to the Israelites over the other people with Our knowledge 32 And sent them tokens to bring out the best in them. 33 Indeed, these [disbelievers] are saying, 34 There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our fathers [back], if what you say is true. 36 What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42
