۞ God is He who has subjected to you the sea, that the ships may run on it at His commandment, and that you may seek His bounty; haply so you will be thankful. 12 And He has subjected to you what is in the heavens and what is in the earth, all together, from Him. Surely in that are signs for a people who reflect. 13 Tell the believers to ignore those who do not expect the days of Allah, in order that Allah may give a nation the reward of what they used to earn. 14 He who does what is right does it for his own gain, and he who does evil does so at his own loss, then to your Lord you shall all return. 15 We gave the children of Israel the Book, and the judgement and the prophethood, provided them with good things, favoured them over other people, 16 And We gave them clear indications of the purpose [of faith]; and it was only after all this knowledge had been vouchsafed to them that they began, out of mutual jealousy, to hold divergent views: [but,] verily, thy Sustainer will judge between them on Resurrection Day regarding all whereon they were wont to differ. 17 Then We set you on a clear path [of religion]: so follow it, and do not yield to the desires of those who have no knowledge. 18 Verily, they can avail you nothing against Allah (if He wants to punish you). Verily, the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, etc.) are Auliya' (protectors, helpers, etc.) to one another, but Allah is the Wali (Helper, Protector, etc.) of the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 19 This is an enlightenment for mankind, and a guidance and mercy for the people of faith. 20 Do those who commit evil assume that We will make them equal to those who believe and do good deeds, therefore both becoming equal in life and death? What an evil judgement they impose! 21
