Have you seen him who turns his back, 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 And that He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes (them) weep; 43 And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life; 44 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female, 45 From the small seed when it is adapted 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius. 49 It was He who totally destroyed the former 'Ad 50 And Samood, so He spared not 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 He who warns you is one of the warners of old. 56 The approaching event has come near. 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62
