Al-Najm 3 of 3
So did you observe him who turned away? 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 That no soul shall bear another's burden, 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 And only then will he receive his recompense in full; 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 and that it is He who creates the two kinds - the male and the female 45 From Nutfah (drops of semen male and female discharges) when it is emitted; 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 Thamud, 51 And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors, 52 And Al-Mu'tafikah He destroyed 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 Will you laugh at it rather than weep? 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
