The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and raised couches 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
