The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
