The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And shade extended 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
