The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
