The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And spreading shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
