The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and continuous shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
