The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right. 38
