Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Reality? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 In a lofty Garden 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
