The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
