The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
