A numerous company from among the first, 39 and a throng of the later folk. 40 But those of the left hand -- how unhappy those of the left hand -- 41 In hot wind and boiling water, 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 neither cool nor refreshing. 44 They had been affluent before, 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again, 47 (We) and our fore-fathers of yore?” 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 will be brought together for an appointment on an appointed day. 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers - 51 "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. 52 And shall fill therewith your bellies. 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 and you will drink as the lapping of thirsty camels. 55 This is their entertainment on the day of requital. 56 It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten - 60 In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Have you thought about what crops you plant? 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 If We will, We would make it broken stubble and you would remain wondering, 65 (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts! 66 Indeed, we have been deprived of the fruits of our labour." 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down? 69 If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks? 70 See ye the Fire which ye kindle? 71 Is it you who have produced its tree or is it We who have produced it? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 So glorify your Lord, the most supreme. 74
