The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
