The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
