The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
