He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attend to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
