The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
