The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
