Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
