Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
