Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
