The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And denied the best matter, 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
