The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
