The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
