The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
Almighty God's Truth.
