Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab (an uncle of the Prophet), and perish he! 1 His wealth did not avail him, nor his acquisitions. 2 He shall soon burn in fire that flames, 3 and his wife, the carrier of the firewood, 4 A twisted rope of palm-leaf fibre round her (own) neck! 5

True are the words of God the Almighty.
