Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 I call to witness the lucent Book, 2 We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom). 3 And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you because you are a sinful nation? 5 And how many a prophet have We sent among the ancients. 6 But never did a prophet come at whom they did not scoff. 7 We therefore destroyed the people who were more forceful than these, and the example of the earlier ones has already gone by. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 Who has made the earth a cradle for you and made thereon paths for you so that, hopefully, you may find your way 10 And He Who sends down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We raise to life thereby a dead country, even thus shall you be brought forth; 11 it is He who created all living things in pairs and gave you ships to sail in and beasts to ride upon 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 And to our Lord we shall surely return." 14 And they assign to Him a part of His servants; man, to be sure, is clearly ungrateful. 15
