The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
