The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
