The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or orders piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
