Do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We will give sustenance to all of you. To kill them is certainly a great sin. 31 (viii) Do not even approach fornication for it is an outrageous act, and an evil way. 32 Do not kill the soul whom Allah has forbidden except by right. If he is slain unjustly, We have given his heir authority. But let him not exceed the limit in slaying, for he will be helped. 33 And draw not near to the property of the orphan except in a goodly way till he attains his maturity and fulfill the promise; surely (every) promise shall be questioned about. 34 And give full measure when you measure out, and weigh with a true balance; this is fair and better in the end. 35 Do not follow that of which you have no knowledge. Verily the ear, the eye, the heart, each will be questioned. 36 Nor walk on the earth with insolence: for thou canst not rend the earth asunder, nor reach the mountains in height. 37 All this-- the evil of it-- is hateful in the sight of your Lord. 38 This is some of the wisdom your Lord has revealed to you. So do not take another god apart from God, or you will be cast into Hell, reproved, ostracised. 39 Hath your Lord then distinguished you (O men of Makka) by giving you sons, and hath chosen for Himself females from among the angels? Lo! verily ye speak an awful word! 40
